Where is Oxygen Concentrator Molecular Sieve used?
Oxygen concentrator molecular sieve is used in portable and home medical concentrators and in PSA / VPSA oxygen plants for hospitals, industry and aquaculture.
Medical oxygen concentrators
Portable and home units producing 90–95% oxygen.
Industrial oxygen
Oxygen for glass, steel, ozone generation and wastewater.
Aquaculture
Oxygen enrichment for fish farming.
Oxygen Concentrator Molecular Sieve vs other adsorbents: which do you need?
Choose lithium LSX for concentrators and high-output VPSA plants; 13X (sodium X) costs less but needs more sieve and power for the same oxygen output.
| Grade | Pore | Adsorbs | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lithium LSX (this product) | X-type | N₂ (highest N₂/O₂ selectivity) | PSA / VPSA oxygen |
| 13X (sodium X) | ≈ 10 Å | N₂, H₂O, CO₂ | Cost-sensitive PSA oxygen |
| CaX | X-type | N₂, N₂O | VPSA oxygen, PPU layer |
| 5A | 5 Å | n-paraffins, CO, CO₂ | PSA hydrogen, paraffin separation |
What is Oxygen Concentrator Molecular Sieve?
Oxygen concentrator molecular sieve is a lithium-exchanged low-silica X zeolite (Li-LSX) that adsorbs nitrogen far more strongly than oxygen, so air passing through it leaves as oxygen-rich gas.
Type
Lithium LSX zeolite
Adsorbs
N₂ (and H₂O)
Passes
O₂ and argon
How does Oxygen Concentrator Molecular Sieve work?
Lithium cations create strong sites that attract the quadrupolar N₂ molecule; during pressurisation nitrogen is held in the sieve and oxygen flows out, and on depressurisation the nitrogen is released.
- Dry air is pressurised into the bed — by compressor or blower.
- N₂ is adsorbed — 90–95% oxygen leaves as product.
- Pressure or vacuum releases N₂ — the bed is ready for the next cycle.
When should you use Oxygen Concentrator Molecular Sieve?
Use lithium LSX when oxygen output per kilogram of sieve, unit size and power consumption matter most.
- Portable or home concentrators with small sieve beds.
- VPSA plants targeting the lowest kWh per tonne of oxygen.
- Refilling units originally charged with lithium sieve.
How do you regenerate Oxygen Concentrator Molecular Sieve?
It is regenerated every cycle by pressure or vacuum swing with no heating; keep the feed air dry, because moisture permanently lowers its nitrogen capacity.

Pressure / vacuum swing

Moisture and dust

5–8 years with dry feed
